New Orleans

The destruction of New Orleans, the failure of the feds to respond promptly to the disaster, and the plight of its suffering people is hell on earth.

There is a meme to raise funds for them which you can find with Amy. The idea is to post about New Orleans food or other wonders of that amazing, fascinating, loveable city, and to include the Red Cross contribution banner, which you can find there.

Last night I went to a previously planned party which was a baby shower/dinner for the son of good friends and his cajun wife. (She is from around Layfayette, and her family was okay, and out of the path of Katrina.) The hosts, a chef and his good-cook wife had made a delicious all-cajun classics dinner for them and us, in her honor. I was going to write about this bittersweet occasion, but I'm struck dumb. I am also struck stupid, and cannot get the banner to display properly. But you can contribute through Second Harvest, or the Red Cross.
