Another farmbox triumph, I see!! I'll have to try this version - I've always done Julia Child's recipe in Mastering the Art..... - Looks delicious.

The soup sounds delightful, of course, especially as the weather turns colder.

I spend an inordinate amount of time worrying that either an actual or hypothetical avian flu pandemic will sever permanently the link between chicken soup and health in the mind of the common man.

your "best you can afford" note sounds like MFK Fischer

i love to make french onion soup any old way. with beef broth and red wine, sometimes. with a carrot thrown in and then removed. with no butter and only olive oil and veg broth for the vegans. and so on. thanks for reminding me . . . it's about time.

stainless teaball, what an idea. mine is rusting! ew.

Just the thing for a cold fall/winter night, no matter how close to midnight! Thank you for this... sounds super yummmy.

zp-I guess when you've been enjoying a writer for 30 years or so, something begins to wear off, even if only a phrase or two!

I'm certainly happy to appear in the same paragraph as the late and sorely missed Mary Frances.
